The suspects, believed to be aged between 27 and 42, were reported by community members.
“A vehicle matching the description provided was spotted and cornered near the KFC on 1st Avenue and the R55.
“We immediately approached the vehicle and searched it,” he said.
Chokoe said they found a black .38 Special firearm, of which the serial number was removed, a crowbar and seven cellphones.
Police seized the housebreaking tools and the Toyota Quantum.
He added that the five were set to appear in the Atteridgeville magistrate’s court soon.
