Spokesperson for the Department of Transport, Unathi Binqose says midibus Sprinter with 27 occupants collided with a quantum with 10 occupants
Four people died on the scene while 23 were rushed to a nearby hospital.
Binqose says that overloading and reckless driving were the main cause of the accident.
“It’s only those people that were in the midibus that perished and sustained injuries. Four died on the scene but 23 sustained injuries. MEC for Transport Weziwe Tikana-Hxothiwe would like to urge road users, motorists in particular, to continue being extra vigilant on our roads to avoid avoidable accidents like the one we just witnessed this morning,” adds Binqose.
