Shortly before 23:00, Comair announced that its flights – on Kulula and British Airways– would be voluntarily suspended from 1 June “pending successfully securing additional funding to resume operations.”
The airline operator advised aggrieved customers not to make their way to airports if their flights have been cancelled and they have not made alternative travel arrangements.
Comair regrets to advise its flights have been voluntarily suspended from 1 Jun pending securing funding to resume operations. If your flight has been cancelled, please don't travel to airport unless you have alternative arrangements. Our heartfelt apologies for the inconvenience— Kulula(@kulula) May 31, 2022
Comair CEO, Glen Orsmond, said the operator regrets the inconvenience caused, adding that everything was done to avoid it.
“Comair, the BRPs and the lenders are working all out to get the funding in place so that we can resume our normal flight schedule as soon as possible,” said Orsmond.
In March2022, the local travel industry was thrown into disarray when the Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) suspended its operating license following an investigation into a “spate of safety incidents” at the time.
